How to play River Crossing
- You can cross alone or carry one item from your bank.
- The fox cannot be left with the chicken without you.
- The chicken cannot be left with the grain without you.
- An unsafe crossing is rejected. Get everyone to the far bank in as few crossings as you can.
A useful way to practice
Write down what is known and what is only assumed. Look for constraints that eliminate possibilities, then test a small next step. A wrong answer is useful information about the strategy you chose.
