How to play Square Numbers

1. Match each number to its square.
2. Read the prompt carefully and choose an answer, or type into the answer field.

A worked example

Square this number. 12²

the answer is 144. 12 × 12 = 144.

Multiply the number by itself

The square of 7 is 7 × 7, or 49; it is not 7 × 2. Try connecting the square to a small multiplication fact before comparing answers. The square-root activity reverses that relationship by starting from the square.
