Make practice tests from your notes
A useful practice test samples the work you need to perform. Definitions alone may be insufficient when an assessment also asks for explanation, application or comparison.

A worked example
For a topic on ratios, make one definition question, one scaling problem and one explanation of a wrong answer. For example, ask why doubling the first quantity but leaving the second unchanged does not preserve a ratio. Keep an answer key with the source or worked solution so you can check more than whether an answer sounds plausible.
Try it in three steps
- Identify the assessed skills.
- Write a small mix of question types.
- Attempt the set before reading the key.
What to watch for
Questions you wrote yourself can contain errors or clues. Review their wording and compare with the actual syllabus; do not treat the set as a prediction of the exam.
Apply it to your own material
Choose one topic from your current course or project. Write down the question you want to answer, make an attempt, and keep a note of how you checked it. Use the example above as a pattern; replace its subject matter and assumptions rather than copying an answer into a different task.
